Title: Blood Bank Operations Manager

Location: Bay Area, California

Overview:

\n
• Prove people management experience.
\n
• Will manage 4 Sups and a team of about 40, including 15 CLS and 20 CLT.
\n
• Multiple clients and 24/7 operations.
\n

What you will do:

\n
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of Testing Laboratory, including infectious disease testing, product QC, and operations support.
\n
• Directly manage department structure and suggest changes for increased efficiency, service, quality, and team member engagement.
\n
• Collaborate with department supervisors to set goals and timelines.
\n
• Perform complex testing on samples and oversee equipment maintenance, calibration, and documentation.
\n
• Write/revise SOPs, training plans, and identify workflow efficiencies.
\n
• Develop training materials and assess team competency.
\n

Implement quality control programs and ensure compliance with regulations.

\n
• Prepare technical reports for management and hospital personnel.
\n
• Manage a team of Clinical Laboratory Scientists, supervisors, and support staff.
\n
• Design work schedules, delegate responsibilities, and conduct human resource management tasks.
\n
• Ensure strong performance of external blood testing revenue business line.
\n
• Make staffing and operational decisions based on customer demand and utilization patterns.
\n
• Implement policies and procedures, manage budgets, and promote service excellence.
\n
• Observe privacy and security policies to protect sensitive information.
\n

Education Qualifications:

\n
• Bachelor's Degree in medical technology or life science
\n

Required Experience Qualifications:

\n
• 1+ to 2 years of supervisory experience
\n
• 5+ to 7 years of relevant experience in a clinical lab or blood center
\n

Licenses and Certifications:

\n
• Clinical Laboratory Scientist - CLS required Upon Hire or
\n
• CLS – MTA - California Clinical Laboratory Scientist required Upon Hire
\n

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

\n
• Basic knowledge of immunohematology, chemistry, virology, and blood banking principles
\n
• Familiarity with federal and state regulations, AABB Standards, and cGMPs
\n
• Analytical thinking and ability to project and implement departmental goals
\n
• Demonstrated integrity, ability to build effective teams, and deliver results
\n
